I have worked intermittently with small-scale sculptural forms over time. It is an area I am strongly drawn too, and in which I will increasingly work.
Some of my work touches on perhaps a surrealist interpretation of forms I observe.
And of course many of the wearables I make are sculptural.
For SALA in 2021 I held an open studio and exhibition of recent work.
I had moved to the southern coast only a year previously, into a ’60s beach shack, and I wanted to make a homage to shack life.
Dwellings are a container and shelter for all that we treasure – our lives, loved ones and belongings.
Each shack is a sculptural response and a jewellery container.
At the end of SALA I held a ritual shack burning to close the exhibition.
