925 silver, stainless steel pin
55 x 48 x 10mm
This started as a response to patterning on coastal rocks, and ended up as an abstract form. And I still love it. The brown colourings are from heat treating fluxed and soldered silver. Normally silver is pickled once it has been soldered, which cleans the flux and oxidisation off the metal. Not this time. It has just been dipped in boiling water and bi-carb soda to neutralise any further chemical action. This retains the discolouring, which is what I wanted.
